For many years, Tony Roberts served as the voice of Notre Dame football. The Olympics, the Open Championship in golf, the NBA, and the NFL were among the major events that Roberts called during his broadcasting career in addition to his long-standing affiliation with Notre Dame football.
Roberts was admitted to the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2016. The Chris Schenkel Award is given yearly “to a sports broadcaster who has had a long and distinguished career broadcasting college football…with direct ties to colleges and universities,” and he also received it in 2005.
