Magnum’s inception took place as the house band at Birmingham’s Rum Runner nightclub in 1972. However, it wasn’t until the association with manager Keith Baker that the band achieved breakthrough success. Albums like “On a Storyteller’s Night” (1985), “Wings of Heaven” (1988), and “Goodnight L.A.” (1990) solidified Magnum’s place in the rock pantheon. Clarkin’s songwriting prowess and the band’s collaboration with Queen drummer Roger Taylor marked defining moments in their illustrious career.
In 1995, after a farewell tour across the UK and Europe, Clarkin announced Magnum’s split, bringing an end to a chapter that had profoundly influenced the rock music landscape.
