Hedderson was a cabinet minister who served under the Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, Kathy Dunderdale.

Hedderson had represented the district of Harbour Main.

He served in the district four different times, beginning in 1999.

Hedderson retired from politics in 2015, after serving across ministries such as Education, Tourism,  Culture and Recreation, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Transportation and Works, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Friends have poured in condolences to the family of the decreased. Opposition Leader David Brazil, said the late politician was “one of the nicest people you could ever meet.”

Hedderson was a Progressive Conservative, who previously worked as a principal before venturing into politics.
