Todd Haynes Partner: Meet Bryan O’Keefe

Bryan O’Keefe is a writer and the partner of Todd Haynes, an American filmmaker.

Todd Haynes is openly gay. The couple met at an Oscar party Todd Haynes threw in 2002. Since 2005, he has shared the house with O’Keefe.

Bryan O’Keefe is now an archival producer on one of Haynes’s projects, a documentary about the Velvet Underground. Additional information about his partner Bryan O’Keefe is unavailable.

Todd Haynes is known for his unique and artistic approach to storytelling.  Haynes first attracted public recognition with his controversial short film Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story (1987), which follows the life and death of singer Karen Carpenter using Barbie dolls as characters. Superstar has since become a cult classic.

Haynes’ second feature picture, Safe (1995), a metaphorical portrait of a housewife who develops various chemical sensitivity, gained even more recognition. The Village Voice picture Poll later named Safe the finest picture of the 1990s.

Far from Heaven (2002) earned Haynes recognition and a degree of mainstream success, earning him his first Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Haynes directed and co-wrote the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce (2011), for which he received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
