Tinubu Officially Starts Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road Construction

President Bola Tinubu recently launched the construction of the 700km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, emphasizing its potential to transform transportation in Nigeria and enhance the economic strengths of different regions.

The President made these remarks from the Ahmadu Bello Way in Victoria Island, Lagos, where the project begins and spans nine states along Nigeria’s coastal shoreline.

The highway will connect various highway corridors, linking the western, central, and eastern regions of the country from north to south.

The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway will stretch from Lagos to Cross River, with an additional route extending to the north-central region.

Tinubu also virtually inaugurated the design and procurement for the 1,000km Sokoto-Badagry Highway, which will connect Sokoto to Badagry in Lagos State, passing through Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, and Oyo States.

Furthermore, the President virtually launched the design and procurement for the 461km Enugu-Abakaliki-Ogoja Road, which will traverse Benue, Kogi, and Nasarawa States, ending at Apo in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

During his visit to Lagos to mark his administration’s first anniversary, President Tinubu also virtually inaugurated the reconstruction and rehabilitation of 330 roads and bridges across the nation’s six geo-political zones.

He commended the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for his dedication and the quality execution of the coastal highway project.

Tinubu also praised the Chairman of Hitech Construction Company, Ambassador Gilbert Chagoury, and Ronald Chagoury, whose company is involved in the project, for their commitment and belief in Nigeria’s future.
