Born on November 10, 1944, in Bucks, England, Rice is notable for making musical contributions to Disney on “Aladdin, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and DreamWorks Animation’s The Road to El Dorado.”

His collaborations with Andrew Lloyd Webber resulted in the musicals “The Likes of Us” (1965), “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” (1968), “Jesus Christ Superstar” (1970), “Evita” (1976), and “Chess” (1984).
Rice also collaborated with Elton John to produce the soundtrack for Disney’s animated film “The Lion King” (1994), the stage adaptation of “The Lion King,” which premiered on Broadway in 1997, and “Aida” (1998).
Rice has additionally written many books and has published several autobiographies. He is a recipient of numerous awards, including Tony Awards, and Grammy Awards.
Rice currently serves as patron of the London-based drama school, Associated Studios, and the Thame Players Theatre. In 2008, he earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
