Derek Sanderson Jeter was born on June 26, 1974, in Pequannock Township, New Jersey, the United States to parents: Sanderson Charles Jeter and Dorothy Connors Jeter. His mother, Dorothy Connors is an accountant and his father Sanderson worked as a substance abuse counsellor.
Derek Jeter’s mother is of English-German Irish ancestry, while his father is African-American. Derek Jeter attended Kalamazoo Central High School.
Derek Jeter proceeded to attend the University of Michigan after he earned a baseball scholarship. There, he played college baseball for the Michigan Wolverines. He was drafted by the Yankees out of high school in 1992.
