Terry Holland House: Where did Terry Holland live?

Terry Holland, a legendary coach who turned the Virginia men’s basketball team into a national powerhouse, went away unexpectedly at the age of 80. Holland passed away on Sunday in Charlottesville, where he had been fighting Alzheimer’s disease since 2019.

Holland led the Virginia team as its head coach from 1974 to 1990, leading them to two Final Four trips and nine NCAA tournament appearances.

As a result of his recruitment, Ralph Sampson, a 7-foot-4 center from Harrisonburg High School, joined the program, aiding the squad in reaching even greater heights.

Under Holland’s leadership, the Cavaliers won their first ACC tournament championship in 1976, his second season as head coach. After that, he led the team to a 1980–81 season record of 29–4, which included a loss to North Carolina in the national semifinals.
