Terry Allen, a musician and artist from Lubbock, Texas, was born on May 7, 1943. His work as a visual artist has included painting, conceptual art, performance, and sculpture, with a number of notable bronze sculptures installed publicly in various cities across the United States. Allen’s musical career as a singer-songwriter has spanned many Texas country and outlaw country albums. He is at now a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Allen also uses a wide range of mediums, such as installations that combine any and all of these, musical and theatrical performances, sculpture, painting, drawing, and video. His works have been exhibited both domestically and abroad. Allen collaborated with the Panhandle Mystery Band to record Smokin’ the Dummy, which was released in 1980.

In the United States, Terry Allen was born in Wichita, Kansas. Fletcher (“Sled”) Allen, who played catcher for the St. Louis Browns in 1910 before continuing his career as a player-manager in the Texas League, was Allen’s father (August 23, 1886 in West Plains, Missouri – October 16, 1959 in Lubbock, Texas). Pauline Pierce Allen was his mom.
