Ted Savage, Jr. was a Major League Baseball (MLB) outfielder who played from 1962 to 1971.

Ted Savage and his wife Phyllis Savage were parents of two daughters; Carla Savage Mazique and Wanda Savage Moore.
Ted Savage passed away on January 15, 2023, at the age of 86, the Cardinals announced. Ted Savage’s cause of death was not revealed at the time the news of his death was announced.
Ted Savage was born in Venice, Illinois, which is located just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis. He went to school in nearby East St. Louis, Illinois, where he excelled in baseball, football, and basketball.

He was a member of the Philadelphia Phillies, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Chicago Cubs, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Cincinnati Reds, the Milwaukee Brewers, and the Kansas City Royals.
Ted Savage went on to play baseball at Lincoln University before joining the United States Army. He would continue his baseball career at Fort Sam Houston’s Brooke Army Medical Center.
Following his playing career, Savage earned his PhD in urban studies from St. Louis University and went on to serve as the athletic director at Harris-Stowe State University for nine years.
