Former MLB outfielder Ted Savage passed away on January 15, 2023, at the age of 86, the Cardinals announced.

Ted Savage’s cause of death was not revealed at the time the news of his death was announced.

Ted Savage played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1962 to 1971. He played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, and Kansas City Royals.

In 2006, Savage was inducted into the Lincoln University Alumni Hall of Fame. The Buffalo Bisons inducted Savage into their team’s hall of fame in 2016.

Following his playing career, Savage earned his PhD in urban studies from St. Louis University and went on to serve as the athletic director at Harris-Stowe State University for nine years.

He rejoined the Cardinals organisation in 1987 as assistant director of community relations and minor league instruction, and remained with the team for the next 25 years, retiring as director of target marketing in the Cardinals Care and community relations department.
