One of the defining moments of Hopkins’s sporting career came in the 1970 VFL Grand Final, where his remarkable four-goal effort in the second half played a pivotal role in Carlton’s historic victory.

After the 1970 Grand Final, Hopkins made a decisive shift, playing just one more game for Carlton before retiring from football to explore other avenues.
