Ted DiBiase began wrestling on the Mid-South Wrestling circuit in the mid-1970s, then briefly with the World Wrestling Federation, then with the NWA, Mid-South, and All Japan Pro Wrestling.

In 1987, he returned to the World Wrestling Federation, where he became known as “The Million Dollar Man.”

Ted DiBiase was the first WWF North American Heavyweight Champion, a three-time WWF Tag Team Champion (with Irwin R. Schyster), a one-time WWE 24/7 Champion, and the winner of the 1988 King of the Ring tournament in the WWF/E.

DiBiase has been inducted into several professional wrestling halls of fame, including the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame, which he helped found in 1996, and the WWE Hall of Fame, which he headlined in 2010.
