Ted Cruz On Texas School Shooting

Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz came under fire for claiming he was praying for the people of Uvalde after a mass shooter massacred 19 children and two adults at a state school.

“Heidi and I are fervently praying for the children and families affected by the awful incident in Uvalde,” he stated. “We are in close contact with local officials, but the specifics are still being worked out.” Thank you to the brave officers and first responders who acted so quickly.”

Mr Cruz made the remarks after a shooter opened fire at Uvalde’s Robb Elementary School.

Many, pointed out Mr Cruz’s long-standing opposition to gun-control measures. Mr Cruz is scheduled to speak at the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting later this week on Friday, May 27 in Houston, where he lives.

“Fervently lifting Uvalde in prayer while refusing to do a goddamn thing to stop gun violence is why this keeps happening, especially in Texas,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, an organisation that fights for stricter gun restrictions.
