Tatiana Maslany parents: Meet Renate Maslany and Dan Maslany – Tatiana Gabriele Maslany, a Canadian actress, was born on September 22, 1985, to Renate and Dan Maslany.

Daniel Maslany, Tatiana’s father, is a woodworker, and Renate (born Renat Kratz), her mother, is a French-English translator and interpreter.

Tatiana is not her parents’ only child. Daniel Maslany, another actor, and animator Michael Maslany are her two younger brothers.

Tatiana is of mixed European origin, with Ukrainian and Polish ancestors on her father’s side and German, Austrian, and Romanian ancestors on her mother’s.

She is fluent in French, German, and a little Spanish in addition to English.

Tatiana was apparently quite close to her mother, who later taught her German.

When asked how she learned German, she told BuzzFeed:

“My mom taught me German before I knew English. And I went to a French immersion school. It’s been around me. I think because I learned it at a young age, your brain understands how languages are structured.”

Tataian’s parents were initially concerned about her desire to pursue a career as an actor and sought to persuade her to pursue a more solid career path.

“When I was younger, they were like ehhhh… Acting was colossally up in the air according to their philosophy. It’s so hit-and-miss. Acting is really difficult to pursue professionally and keep the inflow of work consistent. They just wanted me to be OK,” she recounted.

Nevertheless, as they saw it was her passion, they encouraged her to pursue it, a decision her parents are now very proud of.
