Sakib’s journey into professional cricket started when he passed a selection process at the Moulvibazar District Stadium while studying in the eighth standard. His talent as a fast bowler was apparent, and he was admitted to the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) after completing a three-month bowling course at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. Sakib’s journey to professional cricket hit a significant milestone when he made his List A debut for Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan in the 2018–19 Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League on 27 March 2019.
