The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of one suspect in connection with a robbery incident that occurred on the Odumase-Badu road, near Sunyani, in the Bono Region on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

According to the police statement issued on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, the suspect was apprehended following a robbery attack targeting students of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) who were returning from a field trip.
The police revealed that the suspect’s accomplice is currently on the run. The attack resulted in the tragic death of a student, identified as Abdul Aziz Issah, while six others sustained minor injuries.

In response to the incident, police highway patrol teams intervened and arrested one person. A manhunt is underway to apprehend the remaining accomplices to ensure they face justice.
The police urged anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the fleeing suspect to come forward and assist with the investigation.
The incident has prompted heightened security measures in the area as authorities work to ensure the safety of residents and students in the region.
