Sarah Jones was raised as a Catholic; her priest suggested to her father that she be named Sarah Anne rather than Suranne, her great-grandmother’s name because Suranne was not a “proper name.”
She grew up in a house on Foxdenton Lane, surrounded by two farms and their fields, and recalls “cows looking in the window as we ate our tea” as one of her earliest memories. She was a talkative child who later recalled her priest telling her, “I’m praying you can concentrate just a little bit more.”
