The Sunyani Traditional Council has commenced the seven-day funeral rites (Doteyie) of the late Omanhene of the traditional area, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri II, who passed away in July 2022.

Throughout the mourning period, Sunyani, the capital of the Bono Region, has been draped in black and red, as per the directive by the council to honor the memory of the late chief.
Since last Tuesday, sympathizers have been paying their last respects as the late chief laid in state, leading up to his burial this weekend.
On April 4, 2024, former and aspiring Presidents, political parties, Muslim councils, Zongo chiefs, and communities are expected to extend their sympathies to the grieving family and the council, according to the program lineup released by the funeral committee of the traditional council.
The seven-day burial rite, organized at the forecourt of the Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri II Royal Palace at Asufufu off the Atronie Road, is anticipated to draw hundreds of people from diverse backgrounds to sympathize with the Boahen Korkor Royal Family and the council.
Throughout the ceremony, the Omanhemaa of Sunyani, Nana Akosua Dua Asor Sika Brayie II, and sub-chiefs will be present to receive mourners and delegations from near and far.

Since the commencement of the funeral rites on April 1, several traditional activities, including displays by fetish priests (Akomfour) at the Victoria Park, have taken place.
On Tuesday, the widows of the late chief, the Boahen Korkor Royal Family, in-laws, children, and all sympathizers across the country paid their respects.
Tomorrow, April 5, is slated for the burial service, which will be conducted by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. On the same day, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, Members of Parliament (MPs), Ministers of State, clergy, and chiefs are expected to extend their sympathies.
On Saturday, April 6, in adherence to customs and tradition, members of the Sunyani Traditional Area, along with the children, widows, members of the Boahen Korkor Royal Family, in-laws, and sympathizers, will gather at the palace to observe the Dotiyie.
Finally, on Sunday, April 7, all churches, religious bodies, chiefs, and the public will assemble at the palace for the thanksgiving service, marking the culmination of the solemn period of mourning and remembrance.
