Summer Macintosh is a Canadian competitive swimmer. She is the daughter of Jill Horstead and Greg McIntosh.

Her mother Jill C. Horstead is a former competition swimmer who represented Canada in international events during the 1980s.
Jill Horstead later attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where he competed for coach Randy Reese’s Florida Gators swimming and diving team from 1987 to 1990 in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Southeastern Conference (SEC) competition.

Her mother was an All-American in the 200-yard butterfly and the 400-yard medley relay during her undergraduate swimming career. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from the University of Florida in 1990 and 1991, respectively.
Summer Macintosh’s father Greg McIntosh has been battling cancer since January 2021. However, he has finished cancer treatment. Summer followed in her mother’s footsteps as a swimmer, competing at the 2020 Summer Olympics and becoming a double World champion, including in her mother’s favoured discipline, the 200 m butterfly.
