Sukhbir Singh Gill, the Indian hockey Olympian who passed away on January 26, 2024, is survived by two children: a 19-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old son. The names of his children are not publicly known.

Sukhbir Singh Gill made his mark in history as the first Chandigarh Olympian in hockey, proudly representing India at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Gill’s journey on the international stage commenced in 1995 at the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament in Malaysia.
Throughout his illustrious career, he graced prestigious tournaments like the Hockey World Cup in Kuala Lumpur (2002) and the FIH Champions Trophy in Cologne, Germany (2002), donning the Indian jersey with pride.

Versatility defined Gill’s play, excelling as a defensive and offensive midfielder. His agility and tactical prowess were instrumental in the team’s success.
However, a challenging chapter unfolded in 2006 when a recurring brain tumor compelled him to bid farewell to competitive hockey.
Gill’s passion endured beyond retirement. He founded a hockey academy at Shivalik Public School in Mohali and organized an annual tournament in Chandigarh, nurturing the future of the sport he loved.
On January 26, 2024, Gill passed away at 48. His legacy remains a testament to determination, sportsmanship, and love for hockey, inspiring generations.
