Who Was Sue Baker? Was Sue Baker Married?

Sue Baker was one of the original presenters of BBC’s Top Gear, a former monitoring editor of The Observer and a journalist. She died on Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, following a long battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). She was 67 years.

The sad event of her death has left the motor journalism world in shock.

Was Sue Baker Married?

There has been no report on her husband so it is assumed that Baker was not married at the time she died.

Baker, who joined the original format of BBC’s Top Gear in 1980 appeared in over a hundred episodes of the car programme until 1991 when she left.

She played a critical role in the formation and running of the Motor Racing News Service and also served as the Observer’s motoring editor for 13 years, departing in 1995.

An acclaimed journalist, Baker also served as the vice-president and a former chair of The Guild of Motoring Writers, who have paid glowing tribute to her.

The Guild of Motoring Writers in their tribute, described her as “a pioneer for women in automotive journalism.”

She is survived by her family, which includes her two children, Hannah and Ian, two grandsons, George and Tom, and a daughter-in-law Lucy.

There is no mention of her husband.
