Hogg, who has represented Scotland in rugby 100 times and holds the record for most tries scored, pleaded not guilty to three charges at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.

The allegations against Hogg span from January 2017 to March 2019 and involve accusations of stalking by engaging in conduct that caused fear and alarm to his wife at various properties in Glasgow and Hawick, Roxburghshire.

According to the charges, Hogg allegedly shouted, swore, and acted aggressively towards his wife, accused her of infidelity, monitored her movements and communications, and attempted to control family life.

Further charges allege similar conduct between April 2019 and March of the following year, with additional claims of sending alarming and distressing messages threatening self-harm.

Despite being released on bail with conditions not to contact his former partner and to stay away from her address near Hawick, Hogg continued to maintain his innocence during the hearing, setting a trial date for July 30.

Following his retirement from rugby and amidst personal turmoil, Hogg sought rehabilitation, acknowledging mistakes and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to reset and learn about himself without judgment.

The former rugby star’s personal life has drawn significant attention, including his split from Gillian last year and his new relationship with Leonna Mayor, a horse racing presenter. Despite the accolades received for his rugby career, Hogg faces a legal battle as he navigates the aftermath of the charges brought against him.
