About Steve Pool

Steve Pool, the revered American weather presenter and journalist, left a great mark on the world of broadcasting.

His journey began at KOMO-TV in Seattle in 1977, initially covering sports before ascending to the role of principal weather anchor—a position he held with distinction from 1984 to 2019.

Pool’s excellence in weather reporting was duly recognized, earning him eight Emmy Awards throughout his illustrious career. His expertise extended beyond local screens, making more than 70 appearances on Good Morning America.

Beyond the camera, Pool shared his knowledge in a book titled “Somewhere, I Was Right,” delving into the intricacies of weather forecasting.

The University of Washington acknowledged his significant contributions in 2004, inducting Pool into the Department of Communications Hall of Fame. Despite battling prostate cancer, Pool successfully treated the condition, announcing his retirement from broadcasting in November 2019.

Tragically, on November 22, 2023, Steve Pool succumbed to early-onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 70.
