Last week, PBSO revealed that Steven Alembik, a donor to former President Donald Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and previous Governor Rick Scott, passed away in an attempted murder/suicide. Amelmbik was the co-founder and chief data scientist of SMA Communications, a Boca Raton corporation that offers data to businesses, political campaigns, groups, and governmental bodies, according to his LinkedIn page.

According to the Miami Herald, Alembik reportedly gave more than $200,000 in political donations over the past 20 years, mostly to Republicans, including thousands of dollars to both Trump and DeSantis.
At the time of the contentious post, Alembik, who was well-known for his flashy flag suit, contributed to both DeSantis and then-Florida gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott. Scott was vying for a Senate seat at the time.

On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office declared Alembik dead.
