In an attempted murder/suicide that occurred last week, Steven Alembik, a donor to former President Donald Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and former Governor Rick Scott, passed away, according to the PBSO. Amelmbik was the chief data scientist and co-founder of SMA Communications, a Boca Raton business that provides data to organizations, political campaigns, businesses, and governmental bodies, according to his LinkedIn profile.

The Miami Herald reported that Alembik had given more than $200,000 in political contributions over the previous 20 years, mostly to Republicans, including thousands of dollars to both Trump and DeSantis.
At the time of the contentious tweet, Alembik, who was well-known for his flashy flag suit, donated money to both DeSantis and then-Florida gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott, who was running for a Senate seat at the time. Scott had been governor of Florida at the time.
