Stephen Strasburg’s parents: Meet Jim Strasburg and Kathleen Swett – Stephen James Strasburg, a Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher for the Washington Nationals, was born on July 20, 1988, in San Diego, California to parents Jim Strasburg and Kathleen Swett.

His father, Jim Strasburg, is a real estate entrepreneur, and his mother, Kathleen Swett Strasburg, is a nutritionist.

Aside from their occupations. There is no other information available regarding Strasburg’s parents.

Strasburg attributes his childhood baseball abilities to his maternal grandmother.

She would frequently play catch with him and even practice pitching with him. He considers her to be one of his greatest influences.

Strasburg attended Santee, California’s West Hills High School.

In his junior year, he struggled on the school’s baseball team, compiling a 1-10 win-loss record.

Scouts were drawn to Strasburg’s senior year twelve-strikeout game against El Capitan High School, in which he allowed only one hit.

He concluded his senior year with a 1.68 ERA and 74 strikeouts in 62+13 innings pitched, including seven complete games.

He earned three varsity letters, established school marks for ERA and shutouts, and was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2006.

Strasburg was the first overall pick in the 2009 Major League Baseball draft by Washington, and he made his major league debut in 2010.
