The United States military fighter jets have shot down a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon over the Atlantic Ocean off the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. According to sources, the shot down was approved by President Biden on Saturday [February 4, 2023].

“On Wednesday, when I was briefed on the balloon, I ordered the Pentagon to shoot it down as soon as possible. They decided without doing damage to anyone on the ground,” President Biden said.

He added that in order to make sure it was safe for people on the ground, they had to wait till the balloon reach the sea before it was shot down.

US Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin also said that the fighter jets have “successfully brought down the high-altitude surveillance balloon launched by and belonging to the People’s Republic of China over the water off the coast of South Carolina in US airspace.
Reports revealed that the balloon first made an appearance on the radar in Montana earlier this week and traveled across the middle of the country with the help of weather patterns. President Biden assured the citizens that the US military were “gonna take care” of the spy balloon.
