Popular TV writer, Simon Carlyle has died at the age of 48. According to sources, he died of natural causes on August 10, 2023.

Tributes have been pouring in after his death.
“His warm comic voice shone through these characters, garnering huge audience affection, and firmly establishing it as a long-lasting sitcom favourite,” Director of Comedy commission at BBC, Jon Petrie shared.

“Simon was a brilliant, funny, mercurial, and magnificent human being. He had a microscopic fascination with what makes funny things funnier and we were so lucky to have known him. He was at the centre of all the work we made together and his loss will be felt profoundly by all of us,” BBC Studios also shared.
“So sad to wake up to this news. Simon was such a talented and gracious human being. He was my first ever script editor and I learned so much from him. He was so funny and charming and always such a joy to spend time with,” popular comedian Jack Whitehall.
