Sierra Halseth Parents: Meet Daniel Halseth and Elizabeth Halseth

Sierra Halseth is an American convicted murderer who is currently serving a life sentence at North Las Vegas’ Florence McClure Women’s Correctional Centre for brutally killing her father Daniel Halseth.

Sierra Halseth is the daughter of Daniel Halseth and Elizabeth Halseth. Sierra’s parents had a bitter divorce, according to court records. Sierra’s mother, Elizabeth Helgelien, was granted primary custody after Daniel Halseth filed for divorce in 2011, but the girl’s parents began arguing about custody arrangements in 2020.

Daniel Halseth attempted to prevent his ex-wife Elizabeth Halseth from moving to Alaska with their three children to be with a boyfriend at the time, identified only as “Mr Helgelien” in court documents.

He he was arrested in October 2011 on the eve of his divorce, following a dispute with Elizabeth. A year later, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanour charges of coercion and battery and was sentenced to six months probation and anger management classes.

Elizabeth Halseth, Sierra’s mother, was a Republican senator in Nevada from 2010 to 2012. Halseth is the youngest woman in Nevada to ever have been elected to the Nevada Legislature. After about a year in office, she resigned in February 2012, citing difficulties balancing her legislative duties with being a single mother and looking for another job.
