Shirley Jo Finney, born on July 14, 1949, in Merced, CA, illuminated the theater realm with her multifaceted talents as both a director and actress. Her directorial excellence graced several revered regional theaters nationwide. The illustrious list includes LA Theater Works, Pasadena Playhouse, Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, Goodman Theater in Chicago, Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Humana Festival in Louisville, and many more.

Finney’s collaboration with The Fountain Theatre began in 1997, with a commendable production of ‘From the Mississippi Delta.’ The LA Times lauded her innovative direction.
