Shirley Hughes Cause Of Death: How Did Author Shirley Hughes Die?

Shirley Hughes, a children’s author and illustrator, died at the age of 94, according to her family.

Hughes is well recognized for her work on the Alfie book series and the children’s picture book Dogger.

Shirley’s relatives told the PA news agency that she died “peacefully at home following a short illness” on Friday in London.

“Shirley’s works on everyday family life are adored by generations of families, and she is held in high regard by her peers,” they stated.

Throughout her career, Hughes illustrated 200 children’s books, selling over 10 million copies.

Hughes, who guest-edited an episode of BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour in 2017, was awarded a CBE in 2017 for services to children’s literature.

Hughes was married to architect John Vulliamy and had three children with him. She worked on the Dixie O’Day series alongside her daughter, Clara, who is also an illustrator.
