Shilpa Shetty is an Indian actress, film producer, dancer, author, businesswoman, and a former model. She was born on June 8, 1975, in Mangalore, Karnataka, India. She is the daughter of Surendra Shetty and Sunanda Shetty.

Shettyattended St. Anthony’s Girls High School, Chembur, and later at Poddar College in Matunga. A trained Bharatanatyam dancer, she was also a captain of the volleyball team in her school. In 2001 after completing her tenth-grade examinations, she began a career as a model with Limca television commercials and advertisements, following which she began receiving offers for film roles.

In September 1992, she signed for and began working on her first film, the romantic drama, Gaara Rahe Mera Dil. She also starred in the unreleased 2019 Indo-Chinese drama, The Desire.
