Famous lyricist and Broadway production writer, Sheldon Harnick has died of natural causes at the age of 99. His death occurred at his home in Manhattan on June 23, 2023.

Tributes have been pouring in from social media after her death was announced.

“Hands down one of the greatest lyricists of our time, Sheldon Harnick, has passed away at age 99. Fiddler is a masterpiece, She Loves Me is iconic, and The Apple Tree doesn’t get nearly the recognition it deserves. What a career. May his memory be a blessing,” Christ Peterson wrote.

“Goodbye to one of the all-time greats. Fiddler on the Roof was the first Broadway musical I ever saw, so that was an awfully good start. And is there a more lovable musical romance than She Loves Me?” Benjamin Dreyer.
“Sheldon Harnick was one of the greatest lyricists of the American theatre. We are absolutely heartbroken to hear of his passing,” Broadway HD wrote in a Twitter post.
“Sheldon Harnick was one of the all-time great musical theatre lyricists; Fiddler on the Roof, Fiorello, & She Loves Me are three of my absolute favorites. And by all accounts a wonderful person. Rest in peace,” Cinco Paul.
