Clarke died at her home on Thursday, two years after she announced she had brain cancer.
She had been open about her battle, sharing updates on her social media platforms and her YouTube channel, “Shantanya’s Road to Recovery.”

“The reality is – and Bob Marley said it first – you never know how strong you are until you have no choice but to be strong,” Clarke stated in her final video, The Finale.

“I’ve learned to understand that my life unfolded precisely how it was meant to,” Clarke continued. “Whether I like it or not, whether I understand why or not, I can’t change what happened in the past.” I can only control my present and potentially make decisions that will benefit my future.”

Texas news anchor Shantanya Clarke has passed away at 27Credit: KFDX

In 21018, the Texas native began her career as a local reporter for Wichita Falls’ KFDX before being promoted to the station’s daytime news anchor. During the pandemic, she developed a segment called Helping the Helpers to assist local organisations in raising funds to support their efforts against Covid-19.

Clarke graduated from Florida A&M University and was a member of the Zeta Phi Beta sorority, according to KFDX.
