Shang Juncheng Coach: Who Is Dante Bottini?

Dante Bottini is an Argentine professional tennis coach and former tennis player.

He was born on August 10, 1979 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Bottini commenced playing tennis at age 4 and continued until 2003. He played at the University of West Florida, where he also obtained a degree in sports administration.

He competed on the Futures and Challenger circuits, reaching rankings of No. 827 in singles and No. 380 in doubles.

Bottini began his career as a coach in 2007 at the IMG academy, where he worked with athletes of all ages.

He worked with Japanese tennis player Kei Nishikori from 2010 to 2019. Bottini helped Nishikori win 12 ATP tour titles and reach a career-high ranking of World No. 4 in the ATP rankings in 2015.

Bottini also coached Chilean Nicolás Jarry and the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, both of whom sometimes practiced with Shang at IMG Academy.

Bottini started coaching Shang Juncheng in the preseason after being recruited by Li Xi, Shang’s primary agent, a former Chinese player who was on the women’s team at the University of Virginia.
