Shaka Smart currently serves as the head men’s basketball coach at Marquette University. He is the program’s first Black head coach.

Since becoming head coach, Smart has led the Golden Eagles to a 19-13 record and a first-round NCAA tournament loss to the University of North Carolina. He is now in his second season.

Before joining Marquette, Smart was named head coach of the University of Texas men’s basketball team in 2015.
