The arrest was made by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant issued in Florida.
During the raid on Kingston’s 14,000-square foot home in Southwest Ranches, Broward detectives arrested his 61-year-old mother, Janice Turner. The rapper was apprehended without incident near Fort Irwin, an Army base northeast of Los Angeles.
Specific details about the charges have not been disclosed due to an ongoing investigation. Kingston’s attorney, Robert Rosenblatt, stated that they are aware of the allegations and are preparing to address them in court.
Kingston’s mother, Janice Turner, has a history with the law, having pleaded guilty to bank fraud in 2006. She is being held on a $160,000 bond at the Broward jail.

The rapper, whose legal name is Kisean Anderson, is currently on probation for trafficking stolen property. He will remain in custody in California pending extradition to Florida.
The arrests are partly linked to a lawsuit filed against Kingston in February by a Florida company, Ver Ver Entertainment. The lawsuit accuses him of defrauding the company by failing to fulfill payment obligations for a 232-inch television system installed in his home.
According to the lawsuit, Kingston promised commercials for the company in exchange for credit and a lower down payment. However, no further payments were made, and the promised commercials never materialized.
Although Kingston referenced a collaboration with Justin Bieber in the deal, Bieber is not believed to be involved in the lawsuit.
Kingston rose to fame with hits like “Beautiful Girls” and “Take You There” but hasn’t had a major label release in over a decade.
