Saudi Arabia has announced the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent, marking the beginning of the 12th Islamic month. This announcement was made on Thursday, June 6.

The Saudi Supreme Court had called on all Muslims in the Kingdom to participate in the sighting of the crescent moon of the Arabic month Dhu Al Hijjah on Wednesday, June 5.

With the crescent sighted, today, June 7, marks the beginning of the holy month. Additionally, the Hajj pilgrimage for 1445 AH-2024 will commence on Friday, June 14, with the day of Arafah falling on Saturday, June 15.

As a result, the Muslim biggest festival, Eid Al-Adha, will be observed on Sunday, June 16, 2024. This festive event is characterized by the killing of rams, which Muslims consider as an act of sacrifice.
