The New Zealand rugby union player Samuel Whitelock plays as a lock for the Crusaders in Super Rugby and Canterbury in the Mitre 10 Cup.
A native of Palmerston North, Whitelock began his professional rugby career in 2008 when he made his debut for Canterbury. He subsequently made his debut in 2010 for the Crusaders in Super Rugby and continued to represent both sides.
As part of his stellar career in New Zealand, he had a brief spell with the Panasonic Wild Knights in Japan in 2020.

Besides being a remarkable player at the domestic level, Whitelock has captained the All Blacks and was part of the teams that won the World Cup in 2011 and 2015.
The 34-year-old Whitelock is the most-capped All Blacks lock of all time, having played 146 matches since his debut in 2010. He also has played 180 Super Rugby matches for the Crusaders. He became the eighth Test centurion in 2018.
The second row double world champion with New Zealand, Whitelock, has signed a two-year contract with Pau, which he will join after the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
