Sam Lay, known in real life as Samuel L Lay, was an American drummer and vocalist who was active in the media scenes for over six decades. Sam Lay was named as an inductee in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band in 2015.

Sam Lay was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and e commenced his career as a drummer at the age of 22 years for the Original Thunderbirds. Sam Lay earned a number of accolades and also bagged a Grammy Award in 2000.
