Sam George Addresses Controversial Marriage of ‘Ga Uncle’ to 12-Year-Old; Warns of ‘Fire-For-Fire’ Response

Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has refuted allegations of endorsing “fake news” regarding his defense of his uncle, Nuumo Borketey Laweh XXXIII, also known as the Gborbu Wulomo, who reportedly married a 12-year-old.

In a Facebook post sighted by ABTC News, Sam George stated that reports attributed to Obonu TV, suggesting that he defended the marriage, “is aimed to turn the public support for our Family Values Bill before the President. It is amateurish, senile and simply silky to think you can sink me with these unintelligent lies.”

The Gborbu Wulomo faced extensive criticism after a video emerged online showing his marriage to the 12-year-old girl, Naa Okromo.

The traditional marriage ceremony occurred on Saturday, March 30, 2024, in Nungua, igniting outrage and sparking debate.

In defense of his actions, Gborbu Wulomo clarified that the union was meant as a betrothal, stressing that the young girl would not be obligated to fulfill any marital duties.

Sam George, a supporter of the Proper Human and Sexual Values Bill passed by parliament, has stated that a flyer quoting him as defending the marriage is false.

Sam George disclosed that he has no familial ties to Nungua.
