Sam Finelli, is a 28-year-old bakery cashier from Georgia, who was the last contestant to try out Sunday night as auditions continued on ‘American Idol.’ He went home with a golden ticket.

Sam has been autistic since an early age.
“Music helped Sam a lot,” his mother Suzie said. “He just put his earbuds in and that’s how he really learned to cope.”

“I don’t connect with people very well,” said Sam. “It’s just a small part of who I am, it’s not all of who I am. …Music was my best friend.”

“This means the world to me to be here right now, performing for y’all” he told the judges.
“I was so afraid to audition,” a tearful Sam said following the song and a standing ovation from the judges.
Moments later, the judges brought in Sam’s mom to stand beside him as they gave their ruling: 3 yes’s and a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.
All the way back Season 10 of the show in 2011, James Durbin, who was 21 at the time, wowed judges Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson, and Steven Tyler with his impressive range and passionate delivery.
