Margaret Field and Richard Dryden Field were the parents of Sally Field.

Sally’s father Richard Dryden Field was a military officer who served in the Army during World War II.

While Sally’s mother Margaret Field was an American film actress who was later billed as Maggie Mahoney after her marriage to actor Jock Mahoney.

She was born in Houston, Texas, to Joy Beatrice (née Bickeley) and Wallace Miller Morlan.

Margaret’s talent was discovered at the Pasadena Playhouse by talent scout Milton Lewis for Paramount Pictures.

Following a successful screen test, she was offered an 18-month contract.

Margaret and Dryden married in 1942 and had two children: television and film actress Sally Field and physicist Richard D. Field.

Dryden and his then-wife Margaret Field divorced in 1950.

Margaret died at age 89, from cancer at her home in Malibu, California, on November 6, 2011.
