Sallah Celebrations: Nigerians to Enjoy Extended Weekend as FG Declares June 17-18 Public Holidays

The Federal Government has announced Monday, the 17th, and Tuesday, the 18th, as public holidays to observe this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

This information was conveyed in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.

She mentioned that the declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, and extended congratulations to all Muslim Ummah, both within the country and abroad.

Dr. Olubunmi urged the Muslim community to uphold the values of peace, kindness, and sacrifice, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him).

He also encouraged them to utilize this period for prayers aimed at fostering unity, prosperity, and stability within the country.

The minister reassured that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was dedicated to protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians.

While extending warm wishes to the Muslim Ummah for a joyous celebration, the minister urged all Nigerians to take responsibility and commit to leaving behind a prosperous Nigeria for future generations.
