Ryuichi Sakamoto Cause of Death

Japanese composer, Ryuichi Sakamoto has been reported dead. He died after several years of battling several forms of cancer. In 2014, he revealed that he was diagnosed with throat cancer. he also shared in 2022 that he had terminal cancer just a year after disclosing that he was suffering from rectal cancer. He was 71 years old at the time of death.

According to a statement issued by Japanese record label, Avex, Sakamoto was undergoing treatment when he died. His death occurred on March 28, 2023, but made the news on April 2, 2023.

He was one of the most recognized and talented Japanese composers to make an international impact. He was an Oscar and Grammy award winner thanks to the 1987 movie The Last Emperor.

Even though he was battling cancer in his last days, he managed to release an album on his 71st birthday in January 2023, dubbed 12.

We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Ryuichi Sakamoto. He was a trailblazing composer and producer who scored films such as the “Last Emperor” and “The Revenant” to name a few. He was a pioneer of electric pop music by founding the “Yellow Magic Orchestra” which produced hits on synthesizers and sequencers in the 70s and 80s. He will be missed,” entertainment company  KORG USA wrote.
