Ryuchell children: Meet Ryuchell’s only child

Ryuchell (Ryuji Higa) was a Japanese television and social media personality, model, singer, and campaigner.

Ryuchell was a key player in Japan’s genderless fashion subculture, thanks to his love of androgynous and bright attire.

Ryuchell eventually rose to prominence in mainstream Japanese media as an LGBT icon, making regular appearances on variety shows and at LGBT-themed events in Japan.

Ryuchell was discovered unconscious by his management on July 12, 2023, in the headquarters of a talent agency in Shibuya’s Sasazuka area. Soon after, he was pronounced dead.

On December 31, 2016, Ryuchell married model and fellow Japanese social media personality Peco. In July 2018, he announced the birth of his son, named Link after Link Larkin from Hairspray.

On August 25, 2022, Ryuchell announced through Instagram that he no longer identified as male; an identity that he felt had been a burden throughout their marriage to Peco.

Ryuchell stated that he would rather be considered a “life partner” and “parent” to Peco and his son instead.
