Ryuchell was the stage name of Ryuji Higa. He was a popular Japanese singer, model, and activist who appeared on television and on social media.

Due to his preference for androgynous and vibrant attire, Ryuchell was one of the most significant figures for the genderless fashion subculture in Japan.

Ryuchell eventually rose to prominence as an LGBT personality in mainstream Japanese media, frequently appearing on variety shows and at events with an LGBT theme in Japan.

Ryuchell was discovered unconscious on July 12, 2023, by his manager in the Sasazuka district of Shibuya’s talent agency headquarters. Shortly later, he was declared dead.

Shortly later, he was pronounced dead. Suicide was suspected, according to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police. Ryuchell was 27 years old at the time.
