Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was a highly-rated prospect in junior hockey and was drafted first overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins made his NHL debut in the 2011-12 season and immediately made an impact for the Oilers, scoring 52 points in his rookie year.
Nugent-Hopkins has also represented Canada in international competition, winning a gold medal at the 2010 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and a silver medal at the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championships.
He was also a member of the Canadian team that won the 2015 IIHF World Championships. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored his 200th career goal, the game-winner, in an October 26, 2022 victory over the St. Louis Blues.
