John Jackson was the husband of Ruth Madoc a British actress and singer who had a sixty-year career on stage and screen.

The couple got married in 1982. They bought a home in Glynneath in 2002. They were married until his death in September 2021.
Ruth Madoc was scheduled to appear in the pantomime Aladdin at Torquay’s Princess Theatre in December 2022.
However, a statement posted to Madoc’s Instagram account on December 8 2022, confirmed she had suffered a fall earlier in the week and was no longer able to appear in the production.
Ruth Madoc died the next day 9 December 2022, in hospital after undergoing surgery at the age of 79.

Ruth Madoc was best known for her portrayal of Gladys Pugh in the BBC television comedy Hi-de-Hi! (1980-1988), for which she was nominated for a BAFTA TV award for Best Light Entertainment Performance. In the second series of Little Britain, she played Daffyd Thomas’ mother.
She also toured with “Annie” as Miss Hannigan. In 2007, she played a fictional version of herself in episode 2 of the BBC Radio 2 comedy Buy Me Up TV.
Ruth Madoc played the Fairy Godmother in the pantomime Cinderella at the Palace Theatre in Mansfield in January 2015.
